e-News

First Trinity E-News read it all here!

On this day we celebrate the heart of our faith: the gospel of Christ—the good news—that makes us free! Though we give thanks for the events of the sixteenth-century Reformation that brought renewal to the church of that time, we pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to unite the church today in its proclamation and witness to the world. In the waters of baptism we are made one body; we pray for the day that all Christians will also be one at the Lord's table.  And we celebrate Reformation Sunday!  Color of the day is Red!

Readings: Jeremiah 31:31-34, Psalm 46, Romans 3:19-28, John 8:31-36

In preparation for the upcoming voter's meeting on November 16, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the First Trinity Constitution and Bylaws.

First Trinity E-News

In this week's first reading God uses the Gentile ruler Cyrus to accomplish divine purposes. When the Pharisees try to trap Jesus, he tells them to give the emperor what belongs to him and to God what belongs to God. To gather for worship reminds us that our ultimate allegiance is to God rather than to any earthly authority. Created in the image of God, we offer our entire selves in the service of God and for the sake of the world.

Readings: Isaiah 45:1-7, Psalm 96:1-9 [10-13], 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10,Matthew 22:15-22

This week we had a great time at the Interfaith Gathering at the Br. David Darst Center.  Visit our Facebook page for photos.  Thanks to Alicia for representing the Lutheran perspective.

Reformation Sunday is coming up. And that's when we install people and then they become members. magical.  Click here to learn more!

Blood Drive - Tuesday, October 21st - 3 pm – 6 pm

It saddens me to say that if we don't schedule more appointments, we may have to cancel.  If you are interested in donating, please schedule your appointment by contacting welcome@firsttrinitychicago.com or call 312-842-7390 or sign up with Rene (in the office).  Donors receive a $5 Subway gift card as a thank you!

On Friday, October 31 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm we will be hosting a Halloweeie Roast!

This party is geared toward kids, but adults are welcome and will have plenty of fun and silliness too! Use it as a starting place, pit stop, or ending place while trick or treating, or just spend the whole night hanging out with us!

Anyone interested in contributing toward the party: we could use bags of individually wrapped candy to pass out to trick or treaters. Thanks!

This week's Bible Study, Tuesday 7 pm - Blessed are the pure in heart: for they will see God.

Last Tuesday we enjoyed some old fashioned pumpkin carving with many of our youth.  Thanks to Jay for donating the pumpkins, and to Marge, Dawn, Alicia, and all the other adults who helped supervise.  More photos on Facebook.
