He Is Risen!  Alleluia!

Fourth Sunday of Easter

This Saturday the amazing Pastor Liz Munoz is coming to First Trinity to do a Godly Play training for us!

If you haven't heard of Godly Play it's a wonderful program that has gained a lot of popularity recently and is a whole new way to engage kids. It's a fun and interactive teaching method that will be a great asset for First Trinity as we move forward in developing a youth program!

If you have not signed up but are interested, contact Katie right away!

This Sunday

The image of the Good Shepherd shows us how the risen Christ brings us to life. It is the relationship between the shepherd and the sheep, one of mutual knowledge and love, that gives the shepherd authority. The shepherd's willingness to lay down his life for the sheep shows his love. First John illustrates what it means to lay down our lives for one another by the example of sharing our wealth with a
ny sister or brother in need.
Readings
Acts 4:5-12, Psalm 23, 1 John 3:16-24, John 10:11-18

E-News August 10

Join us Sunday for worship, 10:30.

Elijah finds the presence of God not in earthquake, wind, or fire, but in the sound of sheer silence. When the disciples face a great storm on the sea, they cry out with fear. Jesus says: "Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid." Amid the storms of life, we gather to seek the calm presence of Christ that soothes our fears. In comforting words of scripture and in the refreshing bread and cup of the eucharist, God grants us peace and sends us forth to be a sign of God's presence to others.

Readings: 1 Kings 19:9-18, Psalm 85:8-13, Romans 10:5-15, Matthew 14:22-33

Tomorrow, Saturday, is Godly Play Training.
Godly Play is rooted in story, wonder, liturgy, discovery and joy as
children seek and find the mystery of God's presence.

Chicago March Against World Silence on Gaza Massacre
2:30 PM on Sunday, August 10 starting at Michigan & Congress in Chicago.

"The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land raises its voice to ask all people of good will to intervene in the present situation of unacceptable violence and bloodshed. Your intervention and action will create hope in a hopeless situation. If we cannot take steps toward peace, we will continue to be held hostage by extremism. Please do not leave us alone in this moment of struggle. The whole Middle East is boiling. We need your prophetic voice and support so that peace built on justice and reconciliation built on forgiveness will prevail."
Bishop Dr. Munib A. Younan
