This Sunday Widows are visible everywhere in today’s readings. Jesus denounces those scribes who pray impressive prayers but devour widows’ houses. He commends the poor widow who in his view gave far more than the major donors. Jesus doesn’t see her simply as an object of compassion or charity. She, like the widow of Zarephath who shares her last bit of food with Elijah, does something of great importance. Readings: 1 Kings 17:8-16, Psalm 146, Hebrews 9:24-28, Mark 12:38-44   Thank you Thank you again to everyone who helped make our anniversary celebration a success!  Thank you to all who gave socks for Socktober.  And thank you to everyone who has given to our year end campaign or shared our appeal letter with others! A Community of Open Doors!

See more photos from Holy Week below or on Facebook.  He Is Risen!  Alleluia!  read more here! Doubting Thomas Sunday With Special Musical Guest, John Urban The Easter season is a week of weeks; seven Sundays when we play in the mystery of Christ's presence, mostly through the glorious Gospel of John. Today we gather with the disciples on the first Easter, and Jesus breathes the Spirit on us. With Thomas we ask for a sign, and Jesus offers us his wounded self in the broken bread. From frightened individuals we are transformed into a community of open doors, peace, forgiveness, and material sharing such that no one among us is in need.
