E-News

All Are Welcome!

This Week

The enormity of our sin is surpassed only by the mercy of God. We come, repentant, to the table of the Lord. In the body and blood of Jesus, in the announcement of our absolution, all our sins are forgiven. “Happy are they . . . whose sin is put away.” Happy are we.

Readings: 2 Samuel 11:26--12:10, 13-15, Psalm 32, Galatians 2:15-21, Luke 7:36--8:3
Synod Assembly
Pastor Tom, Toby, Dan and Rene will be away Friday and Saturday for Synod Assembly.  Please keep them and the Metropolitan Chicago Synod, ELCA in your prayers.

Kid’s Programming News:
An incredible act of faith last week by the First Trinity Community. We started demoing the basement. Why? To build youth rooms, for youth programming. Because we have faith, we have hope, that our community and our youth (at present, and yet to come), living out the values of love, peace and justice that they learn here, in community, will be a part of the Resurrection that happens daily in Chicago, despite injustice, despite violence. Thanks to Andrew, Rene, Yamara Vincent, Kevin, Frank, Charles, Xavier, Marge, Lizzy, Christopher, Lindsay for your help!

We’ve also received a sizable grant from the Mission Investment Fund that is designated for children’s programming.  Thank you to Hector Garthias and Bishop Miller for their support and advice.  Details of how we will be using these funds will be available at a later time.

Introducing our new MIC Students!
Malina and Samantha will be joining us for the 2016-2017 school year as Ministry in Context students.  This is a class that students at LSTC take and is an opportunity for students to engage in ministry in a congregational context. Malina and Samantha will be with us on a very part time basis, but you will get to know them on Sunday mornings and through their projects.  Click to read their bios!

Hospitality Training
What Would Jesus Say To Visitors? How can we best welcome people to worship on Sunday? How can we best send people off as they leave? How can we follow up with people who are new to this community between worship services?

Come get trained in best practices for welcoming new people to First Trinity and helping them feel part of this community.   Sunday, June 12 at 12 PM - 2 PM

Toby’s Last Day :(
