This Sunday
This Sunday is going to be great! We've got guest preacher, Rev. Peter Vethanayagamony, PhD. Peter is associate professor of modern Church History and director of the D.Min. program at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. Don't miss his sermon! Worship starts at 10:30. After church we'll hang out with Peter V. for a while, and then, those who signed up will head over to the Sox game! If you did not get a ticket but want to go to the game, you can purchase a ticket at the box office. We are in section 528 and it looks like there are seats available. Jesus protests against human customs being given the weight of divine law, while the essence of God’s law is ignored. True uncleanness comes not from external things, but from the intentions of the human heart. Last week Jesus told us “the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” Now James says God has given us birth by the word of truth. We, having been washed in the word when we were born in the font, return to it every Sunday to ask God to create in us clean hearts. Readings: Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9, Psalm 15, James 1:17-27, Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23
